New Molecules for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Objective

We aim to improve the efficiency of organic dye-sensitized solar cells  by integrating design and synthesis of new organic dye molecules.

 

Approach

We design, synthesize, and evaluate new organic dye molecules with unprecedented combination of donor, linker, and acceptor subunits.

 

Impact

  • To improve the photovoltaic efficiency of organic dyne-sensitized solar cells.
     
  • To provide fundamental understanding of structure-performance relationship. For example, we study the influence of dipole moment of dye molecules on the power conversion efficiency.
